FSU’s Center for Global Engagement will co-host four Global Cafés in spring on select Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until food runs out in The Globe Dining Room. Students, faculty, staff, and members of the Tallahassee community enjoy authentic international cuisine and music at this student-led fundraiser for just $8 per plate (cash or check only).

Dr. Vishanthie Sewpaul

On Jan. 24 at 4:30 p.m. at The Globe, Professor Sewpaul will explore the use of teaching strategies geared toward helping people appreciate that they are not passive victims of societal control. She will discuss how through heightened consciousness, validation and enhanced self-esteem, people can develop the capacity for constructive engagement to challenge sources of oppression and privilege.

Florida State University will honor the legacy of the late Martin Luther King Jr. during its 31st Annual MLK Week from Tuesday, Jan. 15, through Tuesday, Jan. 22. The weeklong celebration will include events inspired by the theme “More than the Dream.”
