Registration is now open for the Multicultural Leadership Summit, an annual conference focused on building a foundation of knowledge that will enhance student success in leadership in the areas of multiculturalism and social justice. The summit is hosted by the Office of Representation, Inclusion & Student Equity at the Center for Leadership & Social Change.
The summit, to be held April 15-16, provides opportunities for participants to learn about their identities and how they impact the ways in which they choose to show up in the world each day. MLS educates participants to empower them to be agents of social change in an increasingly diverse and global community.
With a theme of "Show Up, Speak Up, Stand Up," this year's conference is geared toward helping participants to learn ways to engage in opportunities to take action and create change with their communities around issues they are passionate about. Throughout the conference, organizers and facilitators will focus on creating space for people to take pride in the strength of their identities and learn about others through representation, education, vulnerability, and challenging preconceived notions. The aim is for such efforts to lead to collaboration and partnerships that are grounded in the advancement of social equity through leadership. The summit will also have an emphasis on intersectionality in the areas of race, ethnicity, and nationality; sex, gender, and sexual orientation; access, class, and ability; and leadership and service.
