Westcott Plaza, Parking and Traffic Impacts 9/15 to 9/26

Westcott plaza

This message has been approved by Tom Jennings, Vice President for University Advancement and President of the FSU Foundation, for distribution to faculty and staff.

Westcott Plaza will be closed to pedestrian traffic beginning Saturday, Sept. 15, in preparation for a university event on Sept. 21, which involves the placement of tents over the Plaza. Signage will be placed around the area to direct pedestrian access to the Westcott building and other locations in the area while the Plaza is closed. Westcott Plaza will remain closed to pedestrian traffic through Monday, Sept. 24, to allow for disassembly and clean-up.

Due to event equipment and staging needs, the Westcott East Lot (i.e., the new parking lot along College Avenue) will be closed from Thursday, Sept. 13, through Wednesday, Sept. 26. If needed, additional faculty/staff parking will be available in the St. Augustine Street Garage on the first level. Please enter the garage from St. Augustine Street and then turn right to access the faculty/staff area.

Additionally, on Friday, Sept. 21, the Westcott North (formerly Mecca), Westcott South (formerly Brinkley), and Diffenbaugh lots will be closing at 4:30 p.m. due to adjacent road closures. If you are not attending the event, please remove your vehicle by 4:30 p.m. to avoid delays.

The following roads will be closed at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21:

  • Copeland Street from Jefferson Street to Park Avenue.
  • College Avenue from Copeland Street to Macomb Street.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to your daily routine and appreciate your patience during this brief disruption.
