University phone system and voicemail getting upgrade starting Feb. 26
This message has been approved by, Bobby Sprinkle, Chief Technology Officer, FSU Information Technology Services, for distribution to faculty and staff.
Sorry, FSU can’t come to the phone right now. We’re getting an upgrade.
Florida State University’s phone and voicemail system is getting an upgrade starting Friday, February 26 at 7PM through Sunday, February 28 for the main Tallahassee campus and March 5 at 7PM through March 7 for the Panama City campus. During this time, campus phone services will be intermittently available.
The FSU Police Department will have extra officers patrolling campus, as the emergency blue light call boxes across campus may experience outages. Please dial 911 from your cellphone in case of an emergency.
This upgrade, which affects all campus phones and voicemails, will provide a more reliable system with expanded features. Aside from expanded features and reorganized voicemail menu options, most individuals will not notice a difference in their university phone and voicemail experience. Voicemail greetings forwarded numbers and voicemail to email delivery will roll over with the upgrade, and voicemail will continue to be accessed the same as always. However, everyone will need to take a couple of steps before and after the upgrade to prepare.
Before the Upgrade
Existing voicemails will not be retained after the upgrade. Review your voicemail box and do a clean-out before March 5 at 5PM. Also, employees will not be able to make any major changes to their voicemail box, such as changing out-of-office messages or adjusting settings, for two weeks before the upgrade.
During the Upgrade
Please plan to use other communication methods during the upgrade, as campus phones and voicemails may be intermittently available.
The emergency blue light call boxes across campus may experience outages, please dial 911 from your cellphone in case of an emergency.
After the Upgrade
The first time you access your voicemail after the upgrade, you will be prompted to reset the temporary password provided below and create a unique password of your choosing.
