Say Hello to 2FA for FSU VPN

2FA for VPN

This message has been approved by Jane Livingston, Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer for distribution to all FSU faculty and staff.

Virtual private networks (VPNs) are used across the FSU community to ensure the integrity and security of the FSU network on and off campus and that security is about to get even better.

ITS will be adding 2-factor authentication (2FA), to help secure FSU Cisco AConnect  VPN. Access to FSU Cisco AnyConnect VPN will now be guarded with Duo 2FA. Unlike existing VPN sign in, the new sign in process starts with your username (FSUID) and password followed by 2FA using Duo. We recommend downloading the Duo Mobile app and using the push-notification to authenticate. You may be familiar with Duo 2FA when accessing personal information in programs like Omni HR and it will be expanding to more FSU systems in the coming months.

If you already have Duo 2FA setup and use it, no worries. All you need to do is sign in to the FSU Cisco AnyConnect VPN and when prompted, choose your preferred method of accessing Duo.

If you have not yet configured your Duo account visit the 2FA for FSU webpage to learn more. ITS recommends using the Duo push notification through the app.
