PeaceJam Southeast is kicking off its annual conference weekend with a public talk from Nobel Laureate Tawakkol Karman, who was the first Yemeni, the first Arab woman, the second Muslim woman, and the youngest peace laureate when she won the award at age 32. Karman is known as “The Mother of the Revolution” for her nonviolent struggle to ensure the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace building work in Yemen. Karman's talk will be free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.
Florida State students are also invited to attend the PeaceJam Southeast Conference. Registration remains open through 8 a.m. Saturday.
