Join us for the next ISL Brown Bag Series featuring Dr. Mark Isaac, who will discuss how people make decisions under uncertainty—and why irrelevant information can sometimes change our minds—on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 12:00 PM in Room 126, Innovation Hub or on Zoom.
Dr. Isaac will present research based on the classic Monty Hall problem to explore how people interpret probabilities, respond to new information, and learn from experience. The presentation will highlight an experimental setting in which participants receive additional information that should not affect their decision, yet often does. The findings provide insight into how intuitive probability reasoning can improve decision-making, while also revealing the limits of learning and the persistence of cognitive biases across different decision contexts.
Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend this engaging seminar and learn about decision-making, probability, and human reasoning under uncertainty.
