Unity 5K: FSU Students Lead for Community Wellness

Florida State University students will lead the inaugural Unity 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, April 4, 2026, advancing community wellness and health equity in alignment with National Minority Health Month and in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s enduring civil rights legacy.   

“The Unity 5K reflects Florida State University’s commitment to advancing health equity through meaningful campus-community collaboration,” said FSU Civil Rights Institute Director Ted T. Ellis. “True collective progress requires sustained partnership and shared responsibility.” 

  • Date: Saturday, April 4, 2026 
  • Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 
  • Starting Line: Statue of the Unconquered, Langford Green 
  • Finish Line: Integration Statue, Legacy Walk 
  • Address: 403 Stadium Drive W., Tallahassee, FL 32304 

Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to join the event, including an ADA-compliant route. Check-in for the Unity 5K begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Unconquered Statue on Florida State University’s Tallahassee campus. 

A unity ceremony starting at 9:00 a.m. will offer a moment of reflection honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., civil rights leaders, and community wellness. The race will end at the Integration Statue and Legacy Walk with a celebration, including awards, music, raffle prizes, and community activities.  

The Unity 5K is free and open to the public. Community sponsorships and institutional partnerships are welcome to further expand the event’s impact.  

The Unity 5K is presented in partnership with the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy and the Civil Rights Institute at Florida State University.
