Andrea Thomas, Assistant Director of Communications at the College of Law, for distribution to students
Join us Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm at the D'Alemberte Law Rotunda, 425 W Jefferson Street, Tallahassee, FL as Environmental experts Erin Ryan (Florida State), Alexandra B. Klass (Michigan Law School), and Geoffrey McQuilken (Mono Lake Committee) will discuss Florida State Law Professor Erin Ryan’s new book, Law for the Land: The Public Trust Doctrine, Mono Lake, and a Quiet Revolution in Environmental Law, which traces the public trust doctrine from its Roman roots to its modern role in environmental law. Centered on California’s Mono Lake, the book tells how ordinary citizens used the law to protect a vital ecosystem, sparking a global legal movement. The panel explores how public trust principles now shape laws protecting water, wildlife, ecosystems, and climate.
A moderated Q&A and Reception will follow the lecture.
