FSU ALERT Test Reminder

Florida State University will conduct a comprehensive TEST of the FSU ALERT Emergency Notification and Warning System for the Tallahassee campus on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 3:00 p.m. ET.

This message has been approved by Barbara O’Connor, Assistant Vice President for Public Safety, for distribution to students, faculty, and staff.

Florida State University will conduct a comprehensive TEST of the FSU ALERT Emergency Notification and Warning System Sunday, October 19th at 3:00 p.m. ET. 

This TEST will include one message sent via the following delivery methods:  

  • SMS Text Message 

  • E-mail 

  • FSU ALERTS Website 

  • SeminoleSAFE Mobile App 

  • Outdoor Sirens 

  • Indoor Sirens 

  • Desktop Alerts 

  • Digital Signage 

  • Beacons 

  • Social Media

In the event that an actual emergency occurs during the test, emergency messaging  
will be made distinct and obvious.  

FSU understands some members of the university community may experience strong emotions upon seeing and hearing FSU ALERT notifications. This test will be conducted on a Sunday afternoon so Public Safety officials can ensure all components of the FSU ALERT Emergency Notification and Warning System are functioning properly for future emergencies with minimal disruption to students, faculty, and staff. If you or someone you know needs individual mental or emotional support, please seek help from resources listed on response.fsu.edu.  

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (the “Clery Act”), basic procedures for Campus Evacuations and Building Evacuations can be found in the Fire Safety & Evacuations Emergency Action Guide
