What’s in a Name? NameCoach Knows

NameCoach for FSU

This message to all instructional staff has been approved by Jane Livingston, Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer, for distribution to faculty and staff.

Introducing NameCoach, FSU’s newest tech designed to support diversity and inclusion. NameCoach is an application designed to integrate into the main FSU systems used every day by storing easy-to-learn audio name pronunciations. It enables instructors, student services, advisors and peers to be more respectful and inclusive with every interaction. NameCoach is launching with Canvas, with the possibility to expand to other FSU systems in the coming months.

The NameCoach application lives within the essential FSU systems, like Canvas. Faculty and students can log into Canvas and record their name pronunciation and it will be available for any future NameCoach-activated program at FSU.

For Faculty in a Canvas course, go to settings and select NameCoach as an application within that course for students to have the capability to add their name pronunciation. Once NameCoach is selected it will automatically add pre-existing pronunciation recordings to match your class roster.
