UROP Research Mentor Info Sessions

This message has been approved by Latika Young, director of the CRE, for distribution to faculty and staff.

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement (CRE) is recruiting project proposals for the 2024-2025 academic year from faculty, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and campus partners from all academic disciplines for our Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) students.

Learn more about how to become a UROP Research Mentor and help FSU students get experience in their field by looking over our website or by joining one of our virtual UROP Research Mentor Information Sessions this summer. Links to previous UROP projects are in the UROP Project Portal (linked below).

Tuesday, June 11 from 3:00-4:00 PM (Zoom Registration Link)
Wednesday, August 14 from 10:30-11:30 AM (Zoom Registration Link)

As UROP Research Mentors, faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students are eligible to apply for UROP materials grant funding and may be nominated for an Undergraduate Research Mentor Award.

UROP Project Proposal deadline: August 19, 2024
UROP Project Portal: https://cre.fsu.edu/urop-research-mentor-project-submission-portal

Please remember, UROP is year-long experience, culminating with the UROP students presenting at the campus-wide Undergraduate Research Symposium in late spring. Feel free to look over the Undergraduate Research Symposium program here: https://cre.fsu.edu/research-symposium-group-view. By posting a project to the portal, there is no obligation to accept a UROP student if you do not find a good match. You will have the chance to meet with students during the Research Mentor Roundtable event in early fall, as well as interview any potential students at your convenience over the first month of the fall semester, before compacts are signed with students by Oct. 7th. Typically, UROP students work 5-10 hours per week as a Research Assistant, though the specific schedule, tasks, and expectations will be confirmed when signing the compact.

Feel free to contact CRE Senior Associate Director, Alicia Batailles, with any questions you might have at alicia.batailles@fsu.edu.
