Florida State University’s College of Social Science & Public Policy’s Broad International Lecture Series & the Center for Global Engagement’s Engage Your World Intercultural Dialogue Series will host Richard Chandler, the Chairman and CEO of Bulamu Healthcare International, on Tuesday, October 20, at 4 p.m. on Zoom using this link: bit.ly/bulamu2020.
Join us for a conversation with Richard Chandler, the Chairman and CEO of Bulamu Healthcare International, a Ugandan NGO that provides medical services to rural communities throughout the country. Since its establishment in 2016, Bulamu has operated 17 weeklong “supercamps” that have treated more than 154,000 patients at an average cost per visit of only $6.22. Driving systemic change in Uganda, Bulamu has also installed the Health Center Excellence Program, a modern hospital/clinic management system that has improved patient care and clinician productivity at 39 public facilities.
Mr. Chandler will walk the audience through the history and structure of the Bulamu partnership. It is based upon Ugandans’ dedication to community service and western management techniques. He will focus on how local resources, including clinicians and support staff, have dramatically expanded rural health care and, by so doing, encouraged Ugandan government entities as well as NGOs to find creative solutions to the country’s remaining healthcare challenges.
The talk will begin at 4 p.m. Please log in to Zoom using your FSU email.
