Student Organizations - Alcohol at Social Events

This message has been approved by Dr. Amy Hecht, Vice President for Student Affairs, for distribution to all Recognized Student Organizations Presidents and Advisors.
Dear Recognized Student Organizations Presidents & Advisors:
During the past five months, the Florida State University community has been working collaboratively to address serious issues related to safe, responsible conduct and behavior.
Our work is far from complete, and the university continues to engage students to address relevant issues as we strive for a safer, healthier community. Your organizations’ efforts to create a safer campus environment for students are appreciated, and have contributed to the progress we have made thus far.
Therefore, effective Monday, March 26, 2018, all Recognized Student Organizations, if they so choose, will be permitted to host social events with alcohol.
It is important to follow these expectations going forward:
- Please review and learn the FSU Alcohol Policy click here
- RSO leaders and advisors must complete the risk management training if they plan to host events with alcohol. Some trainings have already been scheduled:
- Recognized Student Organizations
- Monday, March 26, 12:00 p.m., Union Room 314
- Tuesday, March 27, 3:00 p.m., Union Room 312
- Tuesday, April 3, 12:00 p.m., Union Room 311B
- Advisors
- Wednesday, March 28, 10:00 a.m., Union Room 315
- Thursday, April 5, 2:30p.m. in Union Room 311B
- Recognized Student Organizations
The Student Activities Center staff will continue to offer training and advising, and will continue supporting all student organizations to prevent dangerous and unsafe conduct and behaviors. The university also will continue to engage students as we strive for a safer, healthier community for all.
Thank you for your continued attention regarding this important matter.
Sincerely,
Dr. Amy Hecht
Vice President for Student Affairs
