SoulClap Call for Submissions

This message has been approved by Danielle Humphrey, Assistant Director of Communications, Media, and Marketing, for distribution to students, faculty, and staff.
Join SoulClap on its inaugural issue on Black Joy and Nature!
SoulClap is an annual, open-access journal sponsored by OMNI institute of Wellbeing and Florida State Open Publishing. SoulClap's mission is to shift deficit-based narratives about African diasporic people and to expand creative and academic representations of Black experience by centering powerful narratives of Black Joy.
SoulClap is now accepting original, unpublished work exploring the connection between Black Joy and nature. Submissions are open for creative work and autoethnographic research that consider the intersection of personal and generational experiences of joy in or through an engagement with the natural world. SoulClap invites work that examines the sacred connection between land, spirit, joy, and lived experience.
SoulClap welcomes submissions in:
- Poetry: Up to 5 poems, not to exceed a total of 10 pages.
- Short fiction: Up to 2,000 words.
- Creative nonfiction: Up to 2,000 words.
- Autoethnography: Up to 2,000 words (APA 7th)
