DocuSign, the electronic signature platform, is available to FSU employees to easily send, sign and store documents virtually. Whether you need to get signatures for a contract or process intern paperwork, DocuSign has you covered. Here are a few DocuSign tips and tricks to help you save time (and paper) while working remotely.

Create and Share a Document Envelope
Get started by creating an envelope and adding documents as needed for review and electronic signature. DocuSign sends custom emails to each email listed in the envelope. It is important to send the documents to each person through DocuSign and not by forwarding an email link, as the links are unique to the person for which they were created. Forwarding links can create a security risk.

Forwarding and Reassigning Documents
If you need to reassign a signature or add an additional signee, DocuSign gives multiple options. Under the Other Actions tab, a user can decline to sign, request a deadline extension, or assign someone else to sign. It’s important to use these actions instead of giving everyone the same link.

Set a Signature Order
Some documents require more than one signature. DocuSign allows you to assign a signature order to control when each recipient receives the document, perfect for approvals that need to “run up the ladder.”

Build Document Templates
Speed up your document signature process by creating templates that allow you to create a document once and then reuse it.

Require an Access Code
Add an extra level of security to your documents by requiring an access code. Relay the code in any way you wish, but remember the code is not included in the document message.
