This message has been approved by Dr. Joi Phillips, director of the Center for Leadership & Service.
Explore communities across the Southeast U.S. while making an impact with Florida State Alternative Breaks. Commonly known as FSAB, the program empowers service-minded and community-oriented students to lead short-term service experiences in communities across the Southeast U.S. FSAB emphasizes building authentic relationships with community leaders, supporting community-identified service initiatives, and challenging impersonal systems while getting to explore the local community and its unique opportunities.
Applications are currently open for trips to Central Florida's Camp Boggy Creek. Camp Boggy Creek offers free, medically safe, and unique experiences for children with serious illnesses to experience joy and happiness in a camp setting. Boggy Creek's mission includes providing campers with inclusive activities that foster a creative and fun atmosphere and encourage independence and choice. FSAB will take students to serve in support of two upcoming family retreat weekends.
Sept. 19-20: Craniofacial Family Retreat Weekend
Oct. 10-11: Bleeding Disorders/ Arthritis Family Weekend
Applications for both trips are open through Monday, Sept. 1 at 11:59 p.m. Trips are free of charge and include meals.
