Register for Upcoming Child Welfare Immersive Collaborative Simulations
This message has been approved by Dr. David Springer, Dean and Guy and Delores Spearman Professor of Social Work, for distribution to students, faculty and staff.
Child Welfare Immersive Collaborative Simulations (CWICS) is designed as a multi-hour simulation to place students in realistic child welfare environments while synthesizing information from interviews and written documents. Students will be both active participants and observers and have the opportunity to practice leadership, communication and critical thinking skills. Open to all students across campus! Interested faculty and instructors may participate or observe.
The purpose of this event is to expose students to the challenge of working with interprofessional partners who each have different priorities, as well as the complexity of clinical decision-making with an interprofessional group. Students will be introduced to working with families who have experienced trauma. Each student group may develop different conclusions by the end of the event. Business casual dress and remaining present for the entire event is expected.
