Title: Wise Work: Time and Stress Management on Campus

Date:  Wednesday, 2/24/2021

Time: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Presenters: Dowon Choi, Graduate Assistant, Adult Learning Evaluation Center (ALEC) & James Howell, 2020-2021 PIE Associate, Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems 

Description: This workshop aims to provide information about helping students improve academic/work productivity and reduce stress. This session will provide information about common stressors for college students, campus resources for academic success, and demonstrations of practical hands-on activities to manage time and stress wisely!

Workshop Title: Giving and Receiving feedback: improving student self-regulation and developing an honest classroom culture

Date:  Wednesday, 3/03/2021

Presenter: Aaron Ridall, Graduate Research Assistant & Teaching Assistant in Biological Sciences

Description: This seminar will focus on how we as educators can use feedback to help students succeed across a variety of tasks, how and when we should incorporate feedback that we receive into our own teaching practices, and an introduction to methods for giving and receiving feedback—both face-to-face and digitally. We will also learn about what the research says about feedback and student self-regulation, as well as discuss existing feedback fallacies to help us modify our own practices. Join us if you are interested in learning about feedback mechanisms, want to improve on how you give feedback to your own students, or if you are interested in assessing your own teaching practices in a safe space.

PIE TA Community Online Teaching Support Canvas Site

Visit the PIE Program’s Canvas organizational site that serves to provide teaching assistants (TAs) and instructional staff from across campus the opportunity to find peer community and support while more courses are being offered in an online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Resources include virtual office hours where visitors can connect via Zoom to PIE Teaching Associate TAs from a variety of different disciplines to discuss challenges, brainstorm ideas, share tips, and receive referrals to additional resources to assist in the online teaching transition. Video tutorials, discipline specific online teaching tips, and links to a variety of resources available at FSU and beyond, are also located on this site.
