Fall20 PIE Virtual Teaching Workshops

This message has been approved by Dr. Lisa Liseno, Assistant Dean of the Graduate School, for distribution to students, faculty and staff.

The Program for Instructional Excellence (PIE) offers numerous ways to support FSU Teaching Assistants (TAs), instructional staff and anyone interested in learning about best practices in teaching. See below for virtual workshops, a community online teaching support Canvas site with virtual office hours, and peer-teaching observations.

Upcoming Fall 2020 Virtual PIE Teaching Workshops

The Program for Instructional Excellence (PIE) continues offering its year-round series of workshops virtually. Workshops are open to anyone wanting to learn how to create the optimal learning environment for students. See below to register:

 

Title: Teaching Online: Approaches to Pedagogy and Course Design

Dates: Session 1 November 30th, 2-3:30pm

Session 2 December 1st , 2-3:30pm

*This is the same workshop offered twice to keep attendance smaller at each workshop

Facilitator: Dr. Kerry Burner, Office of Distance Learning

Description: In this webinar, ways to develop activities, assignments, and assessments for the online environment will be presented. Attendees will be encouraged to share examples of challenges and successes as part of this exploration of the design and delivery of online courses.

PIE TA Community Online Teaching Support Canvas Site & Office Hours

Visit the PIE Program’s Canvas organizational site that serves to provide teaching assistants (TAs) and instructional staff from across campus the opportunity to find peer community and support while more courses are being offered in an online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Resources include virtual office hours where visitors can connect via Zoom to PIE Teaching Associate TAs from a variety of different disciplines to discuss challenges, brainstorm ideas, share tips, and receive referrals to additional resources to assist in the online teaching transition. Video tutorials, discipline specific online teaching tips, and links to a variety of resources available at FSU and beyond, are also located on this site.
