Opening Nights at FSU presents Songs of the Bulbul
Kevin L. Maynard, Executive Director of Opening Nights
Songs of the Bulbul performs at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall on March 13 at 7:30 PM, presented by Opening Nights at FSU. This award-winning dance work by Aakash Odedra features choreography by Rani Khanam and music by Rushil Ranjan, bringing an ancient Sufi myth to life through Kathak, contemporary dance, and storytelling.
The performance tells the story of a bulbul trapped in captivity, whose final, heartbreaking song explores themes of sacrifice, beauty, and ultimate freedom. Critically acclaimed, Songs of the Bulbul won The List Festival Awards’ Best Show (International Category) at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe and was named 2nd Best Dance of 2024 by The Guardian.
