Opening Nights at FSU presents Shovels & Rope
Kevin L. Maynard, Executive Director of Opening Nights
Shovels & Rope perform at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall on March 7 at 7:30 PM, presented by Opening Nights at FSU. The acclaimed American folk duo—husband and wife Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst—bring their signature blend of traditional folk, rock and roll, and country rock to the stage.
Hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, Shovels & Rope weave together threads from their individual solo careers into a raw, compelling sound that has earned widespread critical acclaim. The duo won two Americana Music Honors & Awards in 2013, including Emerging Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Birmingham,” and has topped charts with albums such as Swimmin’ Time. With a documentary chronicling their journey, network television appearances, and the co-founding of the High Water Music Festival, Shovels & Rope continue to be a powerful force in indie folk music.
