Opening Nights at FSU presents Sadiki Conde! The Pulse of Africa

Kevin L. Maynard, Executive Director of Opening Nights

Sidiki Conde! The Pulse of Africa brings the power of West African dance, drumming, and storytelling to life at Lindsay Recital Hall at 7 PM on March 6, 2026, presented by Opening Nights at FSU. There will be a reception before the performance in the KMU Lounge at 6 PM.

This free concert experience celebrates Sidiki’s inspiring artistry and the joyful, transformative power of music and movement.

A National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow and subject of the documentary You Don’t Need Feet to Dance, Sidiki is joined by celebrated African drummer Abdoulaye Toure and members of Tallahassee’s Ayoka Afrikan Drum and Dance. Together, they create an uplifting performance rooted in tradition and driven by joy, community, and resilience.

When Sidiki sings and dances, he says he becomes “a bright star on the stage,” and his teaching inspires students to become “happy, free, lighter, and more confident.” This performance invites audiences to experience that same spirit of empowerment and connection.
