Notification of licensure requirements for U.S. Department of Education

This message has been approved by Dr. Sally McRorie, Provost and Executive Vice President, for distribution to all faculty and staff.
College administrators offering face-to-face or online degree programs that lead to professional licensure should be aware of an upcoming change. Beginning July 2018, Florida State University will be required to notify students if their program meets licensure requirements in their state of residence. This change in procedure is mandated by NC-SARA data reporting requirements and proposed changes to federal regulations in conjunction with reauthorization of the Higher Education Opportunity Act.
Departments will need to provide information regarding which programs will require student notification. Please complete the following steps and return your file no later than April 27, 2018.
- Download the spreadsheet and enter your information in each cell. Please note that the degree level, delivery mode, and out-of-state cells have drop-down options.
- Save the file, adding an underscore and the name of your college to the end of the filename.
- Return the file as an attachment to Kristin Carlton, ODL Assistant Director of Academic Programs, at kacarlton@campus.fsu.edu.
After we receive this information, we will contact stakeholders to determine the best approach to notifying students and maintaining notification records for the University.
Please contact Kristin Carlton with any questions about this change. We appreciate your help in making sure our programs comply with state and federal guidelines.
