Nominate an FSU employee for MLK Distinguished Service Awards
This message has been approved by Dr. Sierra Turner, director of the center's Office of Representation, Inclusion & Student Equity.
Nominations are now open for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Service Awards. All nominations must be submitted by noon on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022. Award recipients will be announced during the FSU MLK Week Celebration taking place Jan. 16-20, 2023.
About the awards
This award recognizes and celebrates a faculty member, administrator, or staff member for their outstanding service in keeping with the principles and ideals of Dr. King. While the award itself is a tremendous honor, it also carries a $1,000 stipend for the recipient.
Nomination Criteria:
- Nominations should be for a faculty or staff member who has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to Dr. King’s ideals and furthers the university’s commitment to diversity.
- Individuals from all race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or other identity groups are eligible for the award.
- Nominees from the faculty must demonstrate scholarly excellence and a personal commitment to diversity.
- Nominees from the staff must exemplify a commitment to fostering a diverse campus community and a personal commitment to diversity.
Nomination packets should be submitted via the online form and should include:
- Cover Letter: This letter should include contact information for the faculty or staff member organizing the nomination materials. This letter is in addition to the required three letters of support.
- Nominee Information: A resume/CV and short biography
- Letters of Support: Three letters of support, one of which must come from the nominee’s administrative or academic department.
