Join us for a screening of this Oscar-nominated film, followed by commentary and discussion with post-doctoral scholar Sergey Toymentsev (Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics).

The 2015 Golden Globe winner for Best Foreign Language Film, Leviathan is an intense Russian language drama documenting the struggle between a powerful city mayor Vadim and a small business owner Kolya. The movie, set in a small fishing town near the stunning Barents Sea in Northern Russia, is a commentary on contemporary social issues experienced by ordinary people in Russia. Leviathan is the creation of award-winning director Andrey Zvyagintsev.

This event is sponsored by Dr. Robert Dailey’s Annual Film Series Grant to the International Affairs Program and is open to the public. Join us for a reception with refreshments at 5:30 p.m. The screening will begin at 6 p.m.
