Install Microsoft Defender on your FSU-owned devices

Stop cyberattacks before they happen

This message has been approved by Bill Hunkapiller, chief information security officer.

To help protect the university, all FSU-owned desktops and laptops are required to run a computer protection and threat response service provided by Information Technology Services (ITS) by Spring 2023.

Why the change?

This new defense suite is a cybersecurity best practice that detects and responds to security threats across the FSU network. It is designed to stop attacks before they happen, protecting you against malware, ransomware and cryptoware—to name a few.

What do I do?

If you use an FSU-owned device, please check with your department’s IT support to ensure your device has been properly configured and secured.

If you do not have IT support, please submit a case to ITS so we can work with you to configure your device.
