Global Partner Certificate Fall 2024
This message has been approved by Cynthia Green, director of the Center for Global Engagement, for distribution to students, faculty and staff.
The Global Partner Certificate is an initiative of the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) that began in Fall 2010. It is a professional development program designed for FSU employees (staff, faculty, and graduate students) who are interested in learning how to better assist international students and scholars at FSU. Additionally, Global Partner Certificate helps participants develop intercultural communication competence through a mix of facilitator-led workshops, and by attending on-campus intercultural events to practice these skills. Participants must complete the entire Bridging Cultures Workshop Series comprised of four workshops and attend 3 intercultural events to receive the certificate.
Here are some things to keep in mind as you take this transformational professional development opportunity with us!
- Bridging Cultures workshops must be completed in order as they build on each other. That is, you start with Bridging Cultures I and end with Bridging Cultures IV, no skipping around.
- All Bridging Cultures workshops must be completed within a year of completing Bridging Cultures I. This gives you at least two semesters to complete the certificate program.
- Participants must keep track of their intercultural event attendance by downloading the certificate brochure above and getting it signed by the event coordinator. Further instructions for non-FSU events will be provided in Bridging Cultures I and IV.
- Each type of program or activity may only be counted once. For example, for CGE events we recommend you count 1 International Coffee Hour, 1 Global Café, and 1 Engage Your World Speaker Series event.
- Intercultural events before you start the workshop series may not be counted.
- Graduate students not on FSU Payroll can register for the workshops by emailing interculturaltraining@fsu.edu. Instructions for staff, faculty and FSU graduate students on the HR payroll are below.
- This is a professional development certificate, not an academic certificate. It will not appear on your transcript.
