Seminole Dining Presents the 'Nole Your Farmer Series

This message has been approved by Michael Williams, Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration, for distribution to all students, faculty and staff.

Seminole Dining has been cultivating relationships with local farms within North Florida and South Georgia through educational visits. We are committed to providing students with local food and practices that cater to the long-term vitality of the environment. Seminole Dining defines “local” as foods grown, caught, and processed within a 250-mile radius around Florida State University. We are on a mission to educate the student body and Tallahassee community on the importance of supporting local farms and showcasing what is easily available to them. This string of visits is called the ‘Nole Your Farmer series and they are designed to inform the Seminole Dining team of the producers’ practices and values and how the products are made and sourced, with an interest in bringing them to campus.

Follow along virtually as we take the show on the road and document each tour on our social handles. Be on the lookout for live cooking demos, farm history, and more.

When visiting Suwannee Room and Seminole Café, check out our “Local Wall”, an informative installation that showcases partner farm biographies, facts, and demographics.

A few of the farms visited include Play of Sunlight Mushrooms located in Tallahassee, White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, GA, and Traders Hill Farms in Hillard, FL. To view a detailed list and learn more about each farm, visit the 'Nole Your Farmer Page.
