FSU’s Inaugural Presidential Lectureship in Chemical Sciences

Join Florida State University’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry for the inaugural Presidential Lectureship in Chemical Sciences, an annual program recognizing outstanding scientific leaders in chemical sciences.
The inaugural recipient, Dr. Eric Anslyn, Welch Regents Chair in Chemistry and Distinguished Teaching Professor at The University of Texas at Austin, will present “The Senses of Taste and Smell: Differential Sensing Concepts and Application” at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, in the College of Medicine Auditorium. A reception will follow the lecture.
Dr. Anslyn is an internationally recognized leader in the areas of physical organic and supramolecular chemistry, particularly known for his pioneer contributions to molecular recognition and chemical sensing.
Designed for a general university audience, the Presidential Lecture is open to students, faculty, staff and members of the broader community. The event celebrates scientific excellence while providing the broader FSU community an opportunity to engage with one of the leading scientists in contemporary chemical research.
