FSU Bowling and Billiards to Host 18th Annual Marvin Overby Memorial Sport Tournament Feb 20-22.

This message has been approved by Michael Fine, Associate Director - Programming, FSU Student Union, for distribution to students, faculty and staff.

FSU Bowling and Billiards will host the 18th Annual Marvin Overby Memorial Sport Tournament from Friday, Feb. 20, through Sunday, Feb. 22, on the lower level of the Florida State University Student Union at 75 N. Woodward Ave.

The tournament is open to youth and adult bowlers, with multiple doubles and team entries allowed. Entry fees are $80 per team for the team event, with $40 covering expenses and $40 allocated to the prize fund, $25 per person for singles and doubles per event, an optional $5 fee for all events, and $5 per event for optional scratch.

The tournament is open to all USBC-sanctioned members. Bowlers must use their highest 2024–25 league average with required Sport or Sport-equivalent adjustments. Singles entrants must also bowl doubles, and vice versa. Multiple entries are permitted as lane availability allows.

The tournament honors the legacy of Marvin Overby, whose more than 40-year career shaped generations of student-athletes and helped advance sport bowling in Tallahassee. Overby began his career as Crenshaw Lanes’ first mechanic in 1964 and later guided the 2001 men’s team and 2003 women’s team to national championships.

FSU continues Overby’s legacy inside its modern 12-lane Bowling and Billiards facility where bowlers and families are invited to take part in a weekend of competitive play celebrating his lasting impact.
