Faculty/Staff and Campus Partners: DEADLINE EXTENDED to August 24 to Apply to Be a UROP Research Mentor!

This message has been approved by Alicia Batailles, Senior Associate Director at CRE, for distribution to faculty and staff.
This year, the Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement (CRE) is actively recruiting campus partners along with faculty, postdocs, and grad students to broaden the options available for our students who participate in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP). Several offices across campus have successfully mentored UROP students to help support the mission of their office with a research component.
Here are some examples:
Academic Center for Excellence - ACE Tutor Usage Project
Academic Center for Excellence - Measuring The Impact Of Student Success In ACE
Career Center - Effects Of An Interest Inventory Called The Self-Directed Search
University Libraries - Null Results And Their Effect On The Research Enterprise
University Libraries - Accessing Engineering Standards: A Study In ARL Best Practices For Acquiring And Disseminating Standards
Advising First - Making Major Decisions: Examining Performance Outcomes And Major Selection For Students In The Exploratory Program
During UROP project proposal preparation, CRE staff are ready and willing to discuss project ideas with you to help craft a research element that helps support your office’s mission. UROP research assistantships may include but are not limited to research, assessment, or program evaluation projects. Please keep in mind that UROP lasts a full academic year, with students securing research assistantships in early fall and presenting their research late in the spring semester. UROP projects can be remote, in-person, or hybrid, and specific details can be finalized with students during the interview and contract signing phase. Please remember, by posting a project to the portal, there is no obligation to accept a UROP student if you do not find a good match.
Info sessions, where you can learn how to submit your project and the benefits of becoming a UROP Research Mentor, will be recorded and uploaded on the CRE website. You can watch the recorded info session here: https://fsu.zoom.us/rec/share/3sMpLpy362hOedKc43vPA_IFF97ieaa81SUd_qAEy008mqsw9g7cD0mgOsphMlo7?startTime=1597257202000
