Engage Your World on Monday, Sept. 28, With Public Health Expert Dr. Alan Rowan About Global Pandemics

Florida State University’s Center for Global Engagement will host Dr. Alan Rowan, public health expert and faculty at FSU’s Public Health Program, as part of its continuing Engage Your World: Intercultural Dialogue Series on Monday, September 28, at 5 p.m. on Zoom.
Rowan will walk audiences through the evolution of a virus from an infectious disease to a global pandemic, focusing on the contact tracing efforts for COVID-19 at regional and global levels. He will also use past and current pandemics to provide lessons for identifying and intercepting future ones.
Rowan has over 25 years of experience and has worked extensively in the area of infectious and chronic diseases, like the 2003 SARS pandemic. As an epidemiologist in the northwest Florida counties, Dr. Rowan helped create the Florida Epidemic Intelligence Service as well as the Aquatic Toxins program. He was also the Director for the Division of Health Access and Tobacco.
