The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at FSU (OLLI at FSU) is designed to provide an opportunity for mature adults to continue their exposure to intellectual pursuits. The program is open to all members of the community. We are now seeking faculty, staff and community experts in their field interested in teaching a short course, basically a series of either three or six lectures related to a central topic. By teaching a course for OLLI at FSU, you are rewarded with participatory classes where students are always ready to interject new ideas.

This request is designed to help us locate people who would enjoy teaching an enrichment course for the program. Currently, we hold classes at the Pepper Center on the FSU Campus, at Westminster Oaks, at TCC, and various other locations within Leon County. Daytime, evening, and Saturday courses are offered in the fall (October – mid-November), spring (mid-February – March), and May (1st three weeks of May). Each course consists of a two-hour block once a week for either three or six weeks, for a total of six or twelve lecture hours. Courses are non-credit, personal enrichment classes without tests or assigned homework. Topics range from literature, history, politics, economics, science, writing, music, and much more.

Although OLLI at FSU recognizes that courses are offered in the spirit of providing a public service to enhance the intellectual growth of mature students, a stipend of $50 per hour of teaching (usually $300 or $600) will be awarded to each university or community instructor in appreciation of this contribution. If you would like to explore a course idea or are interested in teaching a course during the next couple years, please select this OLLI Request for Course Proposal to complete the questionnaire.

The OLLI Curriculum Team meets prior to each term to review all proposals. If your proposal is selected, a member of the team will contact you as soon as possible to begin our scheduling process.

If you have any questions, please email OLLI Program Coordinator, Terry Talbert Aaronson at taaronson@fsu.edu, phone: 850-644-7947, OLLI Director, Debra Herman at dherman@fsu.edu, phone 850-644-3520 or OLLI Member Curriculum Team Chair, Susan Yelton at susanwyelton@gmail.com.
