Heather Athey, Assistant Dean and Director, Media, Communications and Marketing, College of Arts and Sciences
The 2026 Myles Hollander Distinguished Lecture, hosted by the FSU Department of Statistics, will take place Friday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. in the Chemical Sciences Building Auditorium.
This year’s speaker is Bin Yu, the Chancellor’s Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Statistics and Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley.
The lecture, titled “Verdical Data Science Towards Trustworthy AI,” will explore human judgement’s role in the data science life cycle. Yu will introduce how three fundamental principles — predictability, computability and stability — can more clearly identify potential uncertainties and risks in AI algorithms.
