This message has been approved by Steven Conner, Assistant Vice President, Finance & Administration – Administrative Services and CIO Search Committee Chair, for distribution to all faculty, staff, and students.

As you may know, a search was recently initiated for the position of Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer following Michael Barrett’s announcement that he would be stepping down after nearly 15 years of exemplary service to the University.

On May 24, 2018, executive search consultants with Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates will be on campus to begin the Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer search. This is a critical time for meeting with various University stakeholders to hear their thoughts regarding the University’s leadership needs and how these will inform the position announcement and search process. As valued members of the Florida State University community, we invite you to provide your feedback.

Specifically, the Search Committee is interested in exploring the following questions with our stakeholders:

  1. What do you see as the short-term (immediate) and long-term (three to five years) challenges and opportunities facing the next Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer?
  2. What professional experiences and qualifications must the successful candidate possess? What personal qualities must the new Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer have in order to be a good “fit” with the Florida State University community?
  3. What are the current ongoing initiatives that the Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer must be aware of and embrace?
  4. What are the key positive attributes of FSU and the local community that the search firm should communicate to candidates? What are the University’s most appealing features and how might those be used to attract the right candidates?

Each stakeholder group will have 45 minutes to meet with the Search Committee to share their thoughts. For those who are unable to attend or would like to provide input after the meetings conclude, send your comments and feedback using the following survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9GZQFQ2.

Because there are many stakeholders with whom we want to meet, we must adhere to our schedule. Therefore, it would be helpful if you prepare your thoughts and comments prior to the meeting.

We invite you to participate in these important meetings. Your insights and involvement are crucial to this process.

The open forum schedule is listed below:
