Applications Now Open for the MLK Book Stipend Award
This message was approved by Sierra R. Turner, program director of the Office of Student Agencies and Institutes, for distribution to students.
Applications are now open for the 2024 MLK Book Stipend scholarship. Applications must be submitted by noon on Friday, December 1, 2023. Award recipients will be announced during the MLK Week of Celebration: Jan. 15-19, 2024.
Purpose
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Book Stipend Award assists Florida State University students in completing their education and are available on a competitive basis to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Award Criteria
All applicants must be Florida State University students who meet the following criteria:
Undergraduate Applicants:
- Must have completed 15 credit hours of college work at FSU prior to submission of the application
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.50
- Must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours
- Must be enrolled full-time at FSU for the subsequent academic year
Graduate Applicants:
- First year graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 graduate credit hours
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.00
- Must carry a minimum of 9 credit hours
- Must be enrolled full-time at FSU for the subsequent academic year
Previous Recipients
Due to the volume of applicants, any student who has been awarded the book stipend in the past may not apply again.
Application Information
To apply, students must provide a transcript, a letter of recommendation, and answer four essay questions.
